The Health Benefits of Aged Black Garlic

Do you think that garlic gives you nothing but bad breath? Well, ok, he does, but it is also one of the healthiest foods you can eat. The therapeutic qualities of garlic are nothing new. Sanskrit records reveal that garlic remedies were pressed into service in India 5000 years ago, while Chinese medicine has recognized the garlic’s power for over 3,000 years. Although the discovery of penicillin by Alexander Fleming in 1928, largely taken the place of garlic, the First World War and the garlic overwhelmed the capacity was once again, the antibiotic of choice.
Garlic was rare in traditional English cuisine (though it is said that have been grown in England before 1548), and it was a much more common ingredient in Mediterranean Europe. Ancient pyramid builders were said to eat garlic daily for greater strength and endurance. Garlic was placed by the ancient Greeks to the piles of stones at crossroads as a supper for Hecate. Roman emperors could not eat enough, as it was considered an antidote to the poisons that have been very popular in some political circles of the time.

Garlic reduces free radicals that cause oxidation of cholesterol and damage cell membrane, the true cause of atherosclerosis and heart disease. Studies suggest that garlic prevents the formation of plaque in arteries, and may even reduce it. In Germany, garlic supplements are approved as drugs for the treatment of atherosclerosis.
